Update: We were lead to believe Cities: Skylines 2 could be UE5 based, but have since discovered Colossal Order has confirmed a Unity release. Still, the rest of the easter eggs City Planner Plays pointed out could still come to fruition. Only time will tell.

Original story: Scrubbing through the recent Cities: Skylines 2 announcement trailer from Colossal Order, one creator reckons they’ve clocked some exciting easter eggs. Not only does City Planner Plays think these point to the upcoming city builder sequel being made in Unreal Engine 5, he’s also got me utterly convinced of a few other features the devs seem to be teasing.

The first and biggest spot City Planner Plays talks about is that desert gas station we see in the first scene, its sign all lit up in the dark desert. “GOLDEN” it reads, clear as day. City Planner Plays took this as both a literal and figurative sign, and got to work with a little snooping. 

A quick search for the asset brought them to the conclusion that, since the GOLDEN Desert Gas Station was made by Joakim Stigsson to show off what UE4 could do, and has now been updated for use with UE5, we could well see Cities 2 coming in Unreal Engine 5. 

It’s a leap for sure, but the devs would frankly be unhinged not to take advantage of the graphical abilities of this newly evolved game engine. The idea of Cities coming in UE5 is big if true, and could mean some wild changes to the franchise in terms of graphic quality.

While the exceptionally shiny windows in the Cities 2 trailer may be a bit of a stretch to expect in the game—it even explicitly states the trailer doesn’t show actual gameplay footage—there are some things we can glean from a potential UE5 tease. The biggest and best of all would be in the form of Nanite.

With this UE5 features, we could end up with a distinct lack of LODs in Cities 2. What does that mean? No weird popping in and out of models when you zoom. Instead, UE5 would enable dynamic level of detail, with the Nanite feature simply reducing the number of polygons on each individual mesh as and when you move away from it.

Combine that with all the other goodies UE5 has brought us, such as Lumen’s no-lightmap-baking-necessary magic, and we can expect some really beautiful stuff from the upcoming sequel to this much loved city builder.

When it comes down to it, the kind of graphic fidelity we’re looking at might require a little upgrade from that GTX 1070 Ti you’ve been harbouring for the past half-decade, but with UE5 not even breaking a sweat when presented with 10 billion polygons of dog, you may not necessarily need to rush out and buy an RTX 4090 to enjoy Cities: Skylines 2.

There are a few other features we could well see according to City Planner Plays. More literal signs in the trailer point to the potential for scenarios based on real cities, such as Wisconsin. That could come along with mixed use buildings, and the potential to customise signature infrastructure pieces.

Personally I’ve not been this excited for a game in years, and I’m right there with another of our resident Cities likers, Chris, in all that he’s been hoping for from Cities: Skylines 2.

I took a bit of a gamble with a follow-up guess today, choosing to go for a word that was a little outside my Wordle comfort zone. It turns out I had nothing to worry about at all. It may not have been today’s answer, but as I only had to swap the two yellows on the board to get it, I’d say that was close enough.

There are six rows of five boxes presented to you by Wordle each day, and you’ll need to work out which five-letter word is hiding among them to win the daily puzzle.

Start with a strong word like ALIVE—or any other word with a good mix of common consonants and multiple vowels. You should also avoid starting words with repeating letters, so you don’t waste the chance to confirm or eliminate an extra letter. Once you’ve typed your guess and hit Enter, you’ll see which letters you’ve got right or wrong. If a box turns ⬛️, it means that letter isn’t in the secret word at all. 🟨 means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. 🟩 means you’ve got the right letter in the right spot.

Your second guess should compliment the first, using another “good” word to cover any common letters you might have missed on the first row—just don’t forget to avoid any letter you now know for a fact isn’t present in today’s answer. Originally, Wordle was dreamed up by software engineer Josh Wardle, as a surprise for his partner who loves word games. From there it spread to his family, and finally got released to the public. The word puzzle game has since inspired tons of games like Wordle, refocusing the daily gimmick around music or math or geography. It wasn’t long before Wordle became so popular it was sold to the New York Times for seven figures. Surely it’s only a matter of time before we all solely communicate in tricolor boxes. 

In 2015, my GTX 770M laptop crumpled like a paper bag when it squared up against the Witcher 3, leaving me hungry for more power and inspired to build a GTX 1080 desktop a year later. In 2020, that noble beast was in turn brought low by Cyberpunk 2077, hardly ever keeping to a consistent 60fps at 1080p low.

The seasons change, the tide rolls in, and CD Projekt destroys my computers: the beefy, pricey RTX 3070 I got just last year can just barely crest 40fps with the Witcher 3’s new ray tracing implementation, and this is one of the rare times I’ve looked at RT comparisons and gone, “hey, that actually does look better!” If you’re like me and eager to eke some extra performance out of The Witcher 3 Next Gen’s ray tracing, you may want to try modder alikoko’s Optimized Raytracing over on NexusMods.

Essentially, alikoko’s mod lowers the number of probes producing light rays to bounce around a given scene of the game, reducing the load on your GPU while still providing ray traced lighting. I think of it as a user-hacked high/medium/low settings slider for The Witcher 3’s RT global illumination, and alikoko cited a 20-30% performance improvement on an RTX 2060 Super. Other users in the comments noted similar uplift, and I found alikoko’s mod helpful on my setup, often delivering more than 50fps with the “performance” preset, RT global, and mostly Ultra settings on DLSS Performance.

Alikoko does warn of potentially inaccurate lighting on indoor scenes, however, and the mod does not yet make any tweaks to the RT sub-settings of shadows, reflections, or ambient occlusion. Other issues with The Witcher 3 Next Gen, like the inefficient CPU usage and ray tracing-associated memory leak reported by Digital Foundry, likewise still remain.

Alikoko’s mod is a worthwhile tool for the average Joe looking for a taste of that RTX 4090 life, but I’ve ultimately thrown in the towel⁠—even with a G-Sync monitor, the game feels sluggish under 60fps, and I was not happy with how much performance would degrade over a long play session with ray tracing enabled. With RT off and everything else cranked to Ultra+ (and even the dreaded Hairworks enabled) I’ve got a pretty hard floor of 70fps at 1440p, DLSS Quality. 

For my next Witcher 3 lighting mod experiment, I’m thinking of taking jojolapin102’s Better SSAO for a spin⁠—is it really PC gaming if you’re not obsessively tweaking this crap more than actually playing the game? น.ส.อัจจนา ล่ำซำ ผู้อำนวยการอาวุโส ฝ่ายตรวจสอบแบบจำลองและวิเคราะห์สถาบันการเงิน ธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทย (ธปท.) เปิดเผยว่า หนี้ครัวเรือนไทยไตรมาส 2 ปี 66 อยู่ระดับ 90.7% ทรงตัวจากไตรมาสก่อนหน้า แต่ต้องติดตามการชำระหนี้ครัวเรือนในกลุ่มคนเปราะบาง มีรายได้น้อย รายได้ฟื้นตัวช้า โดยไตรมาส 3 ปี 66 หนี้ด้อยคุณภาพ (เอ็นพีแอล) ปรับเพิ่มขึ้น 2,300 ล้านบาทมาอยู่ที่ 4.94 แสนล้านบาท คิดเป็น 2.7% เพิ่มจาก 2.67% โดยธนาคารพาณิชย์มีวิธีบริหารจัดการคุณภาพหนี้ต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งหนี้เอ็นพีแอลปรับเพิ่มทุกพอร์ตสินเชื่อทั้งบ้าน รถ บัตรเครดิต

น.ส.อัจจนา กล่าวว่า ผลการดำเนินงานไตรมาส 3 ปี 66 ปรับดีขึ้นจากช่วงเดียวกันปีก่อน เป็นผลจากรายได้ดอกเบี้ยที่เพิ่มขึ้น แม้ต้นทุนทางการเงินปรับเพิ่มขึ้นจากการปรับขึ้นดอกเบี้ยเงินรับฝากและค่าธรรมเนียมเอฟไอดีเอฟ หรือเงินนำส่งเข้ากองทุนเพื่อการฟื้นฟูและพัฒนาระบบสถาบันการเงินกลับสู่ระดับปกติ รวมถึงค่าใช้จ่ายดำเนินงานและค่าใช้จ่ายสำรองที่เพิ่มขึ้น ทั้งนี้ หากเทียบไตรมาสก่อน กำไรสุทธิปรับลดลง จากการลดลงของรายได้เงินปันผลตามปัจจัยฤดูกาล

นายรณดล นุ่มนนท์ รองผู้ว่าการด้านเสถียรภาพสถาบันการเงิน ธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทย (ธปท.) เปิดเผยว่า จากที่ ธปทคำพูดจาก สล็อตเว็บตรง. ออกมาตรการแก้หนี้ครัวเรือนอย่างยั่งยืนนั้น ทางธนาคารพาณิชย์ได้ให้ความร่วมมือผลักดันมาตรการแก้หนี้ครัวเรือนและพร้อมดำเนินการตามนโยบาย ธปท. เริ่มจากการให้สินเชื่อย่างรับผิดชอบและเป็นธรรม เริ่มวันที่ 1 ม.ค. 67 และมาตรการแก้หนี้เรื้อรัง เริ่มวันที่ 1 เม.ย. 67 รวมถึงปล่อยกู้คิดดอกเบี้ยตามความเสี่ยง และกำหนดภาระหนี้ต่อรายได้ (ดีเอสอาร์) ซึ่งอยู่ระหว่างหารือกันเพิ่มเติม

ทั้งนี้แม้เศรษฐกิจไทยทยอยฟื้นตัว แต่ ธปท. ได้มีมาตรการดูแลหนี้เหมาะสมอย่างยั่งยืน หนี้เสียแก้ไขได้ หนี้บุคคล หนี้เกษตร แก้หนี้เรื้อรังปิดจบหนี้ได้ หนี้ใหม่ให้มีคุณภาพไม่กลายเป็นปัญหาหนี้เอ็นพีแอลและหนี้นอกระบบ ส่วนในอีก 30% ที่ไม่ได้อยู่ภายใต้การกำกับของ ธปท. เช่น สินเชื่อเช่าซื้อรถยนต์ จักรยานยนต์ ทำให้การแก้ไขหนี้ครัวเรือนบูรณาการมากขึ้น และต้องไปหารือพูดคุยกับหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง เช่น สหกรณ์ เป็นต้น

นายวิทัย รัตนากร ประธานสมาคมสถาบันการเงินของรัฐ และผู้อำนวยการธนาคารออมสิน กล่าวว่า การที่หนี้ครัวเรือนสูงขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว เป็นปัญหารุนแรงที่ต้องเร่งแก้ไข มาตรการนี้หวังว่าจะทำให้หนี้เพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีคุณภาพ และการให้ดอกเบี้ยตามความเสี่ยงจะเป็นการคิดดอกเบี้ยอย่างป็นธรรมมากขึ้น และเชื่อว่าหากดำเนินการตามนี้ หนี้ครัวเรือนจะต่ำกว่า 80% ใน 5 ปี ในส่วนธนาคารออมสิน ไม่มีหนี้เรื้อรังตามนิยามของ ธปท. เป็นหนี้หมุนเวียนตลอด 5 ปีที่ผ่านมา จ่ายดอกเบี้ยมากกว่าเงินต้น

นายฉัตรชัย ศิริไล ผู้จัดการธนาคารเพื่อการเกษตรและสหกรณ์การเกษตร (ธ.ก.ส.) กล่าวว่า ลูกค้าเกษตรของ ธ.ก.ส. มี 4.3 ล้านราย ทั้งหมด 10 ล้านสัญญา รวมหนี้ 1.6 ล้านล้านบาท ในนี้มีหนี้บุคคลกับเกษตรกร 6 ล้านสัญญา 3 ล้านราย ที่ลูกค้ามีความเปราะบาง รวมทั้งมีหนี้ผู้สูงอายุ 60 ปีขึ้นไปอยู่ 1.2 ล้านคน ทำให้ ธ.ก.ส. ได้ออกสินเชื่อแทนคุณ วงเงิน 20,000 ล้านบาท ทั้งหมด 4.2 หมื่นราย โดยให้ทายาทกู้ไปปิดหนี้สูงอายุ ภายในเดือน มี.ค. 67 โดย ธ.ก.ส. จะปฏิบัติตามนโยบายดูแลการแก้ไขปัญหาหนี้สินครัวเรือนอย่างยั่งยืนตามนโยบาย ธปท.

นายผยง ศรีวณิช ประธานสมาคมธนาคารไทย กล่าวว่า สมาคมฯ ให้ความร่วมมือผลักดันมาตรการของ ธปท. มาโดยตลอด และประคับประคองลูกหนี้ตัวเองจากวิกฤติโควิดมาต่อเนื่องจนถึงปัจจุบัน โดยเห็นด้วยกับการแก้ปัญหนี้ครัวเรือน ตามแนวทางให้สินเชื่ออย่างรับผิดชอบและเป็นธรรม ครอบคลุมโฆษณา ให้ข้อมูลครบถ้วน ให้สินเชื่อตรงกับความต้องการและความสามารถชำระหนี้ และไม่กระตุ้นก่อหนี้เกินตัว

ด้านการแก้ไขหนี้เรื้อรัง จะให้สามารถปิดจบหนี้ได้ใน 5 ปี ดอกเบี้ยไม่เกิน 15% ต่อปี ธนาคารสมาชิกและบริษัทย่อย พร้อมเริ่มดำเนินการแก้หนี้เรื้อรังกลุ่มคนรายได้ต่ำกว่า 2 หมื่นบาทต่อเดือน และจะศึกษาติดตามกำหนดดอกเบี้ยตามความเสี่ยง กำหนดดีเอสอาร์ที่อยู่ระหว่างดูแลหนี้ครัวเรือนเพิ่มเติมของ ธปท.

ขณะที่สมาคมธนาคารไทย กำหนดแนวทางต้องยึด 5 ข้อ คือ การมีความรู้ความเข้าใจ เพื่อกระตุ้นพฤติกรรมให้มีวินัยทางการเงิน, การแข่งขันอย่างเสรี ไม่ผูกขาด, โปร่งใส เท่าเทียม, ความเหมาะสม อัตราดอกเบี้ยต้องสะท้อนความเสี่ยงที่เป็นจริง และครอบคลุมเข้าถึงที่สามารถนำข้อมูลทางเลือก

นายอธิป ศิลป์พจีการ รองประธานชมรมสินเชื่อส่วนบุคคล กล่าวว่า ที่ผ่านมา ธปท. ได้เชิญชมรมฯ มาพูดคุยถึงมาตรการ ธปท. โดยผู้ประกอบการได้แสดงข้อคิดเห็นและแนวทางต่างๆ ในทางปฏิบัติ ให้บังคับใช้ได้จริง มาตรการนี้ กลุ่มลูกค้าส่วนใหญ่เป็นนอนแบงก์ 70% เช่น พนักงานบริษัท ผู้ประกอบธุรกิจรายย่อย พ่อค้าแม่ค้า เป็นกลุ่มที่แตกต่างกับธนาคาร เพราะรายได้ต่ำกว่า และความสามารถชำระน้อยกว่า จึงเลือกผ่อนชำระแบบขั้นต่ำ โดยชมรมสินเชื่อส่วนบุคคลได้สนับสนุนแนวทาง ธปท. เสนอทางเลือก เช่น ลดภาระจ่ายสินเชื่อส่วนบุคคล สินเชื่อทางเลือกปิดจบได้ระยะเวลา 5 ปี จะเริ่มดำเนินการรายได้ต่ำกว่า 10,000 บาทต่อเดือน
