Kabuscorp President Bento Kangamba has addressed concerns over a debt owed by the club to Brazilian football player Rivaldo, stating that the country’s interests are being protected. Kangamba is confident that the situation will be resolved without harming football in the country, despite fears of collective penalties against Angolan national teams and clubs.
Kangamba confirmed that Rivaldo has been paid, with only €80,000 outstanding to finalize the debt. The club’s lawyers are currently working to resolve the matter. Kangamba also criticized the current federation headed by Artur Almeida and Silva, urging fans to remain calm and focus on Kabuscorp’s performance in the league.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is closely monitoring the situation, and Secretary of State Carlos Almeida hopes for a resolution that satisfies all parties. This is not the first dispute involving Kabuscorp, and the club has already lost nine points in the current season due to non-compliance. However, Kangamba remains optimistic that the club will recover and return to its former glory.
The fate of other football teams in Angola, including FC Cabinda, National de Benguela, and Akwá, has also been affected by FIFA’s interventions in the past. FIFA has urged Kabuscorp to provide evidence of debt payment, with the potential for the club to lose points if it fails to comply. Kabuscorp currently sits in fourth place in the country’s top football competition with 39 points.
