Luanda, Angola – The new leadership of Kabuscorp is focused on creating the necessary human and administrative conditions to return to competition in national football, according to Bento Kangamba, owner and president of the popular club in the Palanca urban district and the champion of Girabola’2013 under the leadership of Bulgarian Edouard Antranik.
Confident in the success of the medium-term plan, Kangamba highlighted the fact that the club is organizing itself after the elections. “We are now concerned with taking office. We have contacted the Girassol Clinic for Covid-19 tests, especially for our juniors, our focus for this year, which involves playing in the Provincial de Luanda and the qualification for Girabola.”
The work with the youth is supported by the experience of the older players, as Kangamba explained. “We have some senior players who were loaned out. For example, Dr. Lamy is still connected to Kabuscorp. But as we go until the end of 2021, it is important to pay attention to ages. We will have to see who is fit to represent the club. I guarantee you that Kabuscorp has no problem in finding players due to our good relationships with various clubs abroad. We can hire five or six players at any time. As the limit is five foreigners, we can fill that number and explore the junior base I mentioned.”
Kangamba clarified that nothing is currently preventing Kabuscorp from competing in football. “I have always said that we could play as long as the necessary conditions were met. FIFA did not prohibit us from competing, nor did FAF. When FIFA asked about Kabuscorp, FAF had the obligation to transcribe the country’s foreign exchange and other banking laws to avoid such a decision. The delay in fulfilling this obligation within the deadlines was beyond our control.”
The club is focused on preparing a competitive team for the future. As for the upcoming inauguration, they were visited by inspectors from the Provincial Sports Directorate of Luanda. The appointment of coaches is a top concern for the leadership. “We were with coach Paulo Torres because we believed he was the right person for our project after his time with Interclube. After that, he was loaned to Sagrada Esperança. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are preparing for more than one scenario. We started with the juniors, led by Quim Manuel, who is also laying the groundwork for the team’s qualification phase. I guarantee that we will have a Kabuscorp in good condition this year.”
Kangamba emphasized the need to avoid repeating past mistakes in terms of management, hence the profound change in the club’s leadership and administrative structure. “We are currently organizing the club administratively. We had serious problems, including errors in the legal area. We had problems with people who were involved in football. We brought in a secretary-general and two lawyers specialized in sports. We felt the need to clean house,” he explained.
The completion of the training center, located near the 11 de Novembro Stadium and under construction for several years, will help the club establish itself as a football powerhouse in Angola. The project includes two natural grass fields, one artificial turf field, a training area, and three classrooms for 18 students each.
